Lustrabaatane · Flåm
A two-hour, one-way sailing from Flåm down the Aurlandsfjord and through the UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord to Gudvangen, on a classic boat with an audio guide and a cafeteria. Book it if you are already in Flåm and riding the train on your own ticket: it adds the fjord without paying for a whole tour.

No train on this one. Lustrabaatane's boat leaves Flåm, crosses the Aurlandsfjord past the village of Undredal and turns into the Nærøyfjord, 19 km long and under 500 m wide at its narrowest, under peaks such as Steganosi at 1,761 m (SNL). Two hours later it ties up at Gudvangen, at the head of the fjord. The fjord is part of the West Norwegian Fjords World Heritage site (UNESCO). There is an audio guide and a cafeteria on board, and Lustrabaatane runs daily departures from April to October.
Here is why it sits on a Flåm Railway site. Every guided day from Bergen bundles this sailing, or one much like it, with the train. If you reach Flåm by cruise ship, by car or after a night in the village, you do not need a tour at all: buy the Flåm Railway from the operator at norwaysbest.com, or from Vy, and add this boat. That costs far less than any day trip on this site.
The catch is in the title: it is one way. The bus back from Gudvangen to Flåm is not included, and guests have complained about it. Nor-Way's NW162 express runs from Gudvangen to Flåm in about 30 minutes (timetable); check times on Entur before you sail, and work out the last bus if you have a ship to catch. The boat leaves from pier 5 or 6 before 10:00 and from pier 2 or 3 after 10:00.
Pier 5 or 6 for departures before 10:00, pier 2 or 3 after 10:00.
Out of Flåm along the Aurlandsfjord, past Undredal and its small stave church.
The fjord narrows to under 500 m at Bakka, with walls rising to about 1,761 m.
The boat ends at the head of the fjord, by the Njardarheimr Viking village.
